Well, Ryan had a nice birthday, I think. He was suprised when hew walked into the resturant to find Gma Laurie, Papa, and Kelly sitting there. We stuffed ourselves and then we went to our house and had cake. We hung out and visited awhile, then Ryan and I went to see King Kong. That was like 4 hours in the movie theatre! It was a fun, although long. I dont think Peter Jackson can make a movie under 2.5 hours.
Then I worked for three days. We had an asthmatic boy (19yrs old) come in who had to be intubated because of a terrible asthma attack. It was either that, or serious reaction to seafood. He was grey and drooling when he arrived, and once he was intubated and airated, he turned nice and pink. Dr H ran around barking orders, I was there in the moment, getting IVs started and drawing up paralytic drugs. I couldn't help but think I was in an episode of ER. It felt surreal to me, until I saw a young girl standing outside the code room. I looked at his young wife, who was wide eyed and scared. I went to her side, tried to explain what was happening, that he is very critical and that we are doing everything in our power to save him. I introduced her to Dr H, who then gave her the news. "He is really touch and go. This is the worst asthma case I have seen in a long time. We are going to do our best."
I answered the telemetry call (the line the ambulances use to call in what kind of emergency they are bringing to us) about the boy. Dr H said I had handled it well, calling respiratory to assist us and alerting her to the eminant arrival of this very sick patient. Last I heard, the boy was in the ICU. Okay everybody, send your thoughts/prayers/good vibes his way.
On a lighter note, Astrid is WALKING. I mean, like across the room and completely unassisted.

Here are Aurora and Ryan playing (big suprise) video games. They are the SAME, I swear it!
