Rabbit Rabbit

Suposedly its good luck to say "Rabbit Rabbit" on the first day of the month. According to Ryan, it should be the first words uttered in the morning on the months first day. Hmm. Hadn't really heard the tradition until Ryan, but now its very ingrained. So hopefully good luck shall follow.

Aurora was playing outside this morning..
"Momma! The air smells like rain! I wonder if it will rain today?" The sky is flat grey looking today. I am so congested however, that I will have to take Aurora's word as to the scent of the air. The desert is SO dry these days. I think we have had zero rain fall since um, October, and prior to that I think it rained last in July. Its so drought-ridden that the natrually occuring cactus is crispy! Now I am used to the dry climate, being that I have lived in the Mojave Desert (think death valley) and now the Sonoran Desert (which is suposedly much wetter), but for chrissakes! Its getting riduiculus.

Ryan told me a funny thing: Apparently one of Aurora's classmates, "Matthew" got in trouble yesterday for saying "big-butt noise". Aurora helpfully explained to her Dad, "Matthew, he got in trouble for saying big-butt noise, and big-butt noise is not a nice thing to say, so I am not going to say big-butt noise, okay?
"Um honey, you are saying it right now?"
"Well, yeah, but I am only saying quietly, to myself." Then she sarts whispering, "Big-butt noise, big-butt noise"
Ryan and I just giggled our heads off when he relayed the story last night.

Astrid has developed a strange alien language. She says normal things, like "UP!" and "Whats zat?" and "Ma"and "Da" But then, she has a variety of sounds like, "Eaahhp" and "Brreaph" and she says them in conversational tones. Its pretty cute.

Oh and congrats to my friends Brooke and Doug, who had their baby on the 26th. Happy Birthday to Tyler Scott!

Rabbit, Rabbit, huh? Never heard of that. I am thinking that perhaps Ryan is starting to make up his own good luck rituals. I wouldn't be to worried though. Not unless he starts building an alter in the back yard and bringing home goats, anyway! (wink!)
