Contemplative

Last Monday at work was a pretty tough one. One of my patients was brought to the ER because other family members suspected that he had been abused by his mother's boyfriend. This little boy was covered in bruises in various stages of healing. Bruises on his face, his arms, his genitals, oh my god it was awful. He was scared of everyone, screaming whenever anyone tried to touch him. The triage staff called in the police, and I called the social worker, who then made sure that a CPS (child protective services) report was filed. Unfortunatly, there are other children in the home, so the full scale investigation is ongoing.

Did I mention that the child is eighteen months old? Like Astrid's age. Gah! How could anybody do that to a baby??

How could a mother allow that to happen to her child?

This could harm a child for the rest of his life.

Well, I went home that night and hugged my family close and cried tears onto their precious heads. Then I took a tylenol PM and fell asleep.

I hope they prosecute the sunofabitch that did that to the little baby, and that his prisonmates find out what he did to get there. Then I hope they don't take too kindly to child abusers and beat him and squeeze his genitals until they are purple and black, so he knows what its like.

Oh my God. That is just terrible. How can anyone mistreat a child? A BABY! Just hearing about those things is awful, I can hardly imagine treating the little guy with out going postal on the asshole.
