New job

My new job isn't really that new.

Being a charge nurse is actually an eye-opening experience. But I feel kind lost when things like this happen:

1. A rapid fluid infuser doesn't infuse, let alone rapidly. We had to take the emergency release blood and squeeze them into a man's body using the old pressure bags. He was dying before our eyes, and the goddamned thing wouldn't freaking work. Not good.

2. When the power goes out and the hospital goes on generator power. Make sure your patient's ventilator, IV pump and monitor are all plugged into the red plugs.

3. A turd-stirring RN and a turd-stirring MD go head-to-head with all of the other staff. Why can't we all get along?

4. Meetings. I didn't realize there were gonna be meetings.

Ugh! Meetings? Do you have the pre-meeting, the meeting, and the post meeting commentary meeting? Oh yeah, and the meeting planning meeting?

Why is it when you leave a meeting you're either more confused or have more work. It's not "working smarter" that's for damn sure.
