So I sit here and I wait, and wait, and wait. I am sure that the waiting is nearly more than I, let alone she can bear. She, meaning my pregnant sister. She is due TODAY. Well I suppose the little feller will make his debut when he is damn good and ready. The rest of us will have to hold tight. Until then, I anxiously await this new arrival.
I had a meeting this morning at work. All the Jeffe were in the house. The CEO of our hospital was sitting at my table eating breakfast with us, and I didn’t even know it. I swear I must go around with my head in the sand. My boss handed me an agenda for the meeting, where in fact I discovered that I was supposed to introduce myself and explained my goals for being a clinical nurse leader. Yeesh. So I stumbled through some half-baked goals and stuttered until I handed it over to my colleague. There is nothing like 50 pairs of eyes staring at you to induce near panic.
What I really wanted to do was talk to the bosses regarding what happened yesterday. Yesterday we had a disaster drill that I missed. Our hospital became inundated with twenty “fake-hurt” people. The patients were labeled with injuries that we had to triage out to various locations. We activated a call list of staff members and a call list of physicians. It came together pretty smoothly from what I heard. So that was pretty cool. I should have been there, but I was stuck in a BOOORRRRINNNG (in Homer Simpson’s voice) computer class. I think that computer classes should be limited to:
1. Here is the program, and what is can do.
2. This is how to use it.
3. Okay now practice some scenarios. Any questions?
Not four and a half hours of torturous blah-blah-blah, THEN you can use the program. I do believe that I suffer from adult-onset ADHD.
