I am sitting in a nearly quiet house, except for the Damned singing “Smash it up”. Almost all of the lights are out, and the children are in their beds. I am waiting for Ryan to get home so that I may have 20 minutes to visit with him before he falls into bed, exhausted from another long-ass day. He called me a little bit ago, and asked if there was anything to eat in the house. Hah! Are you kidding? The fridge is absolutely packed with leftovers from this weekend. I cooked, Laurie cooked, and my parents also cooked… Fact is, I probably won’t make anything from scratch for at least three days. More if I can help it.
I had a nice, if not entirely lonely birthday. I went to Aurora’s class today bearing cookies for a nice birthday treat. The kids all sang happy birthday to “Mrs. Olson”.
The children and I had fun together. My parents spent 15 hours working the polls, where something like 80 voters all day long. Jenn was at work, making Gumbo for her Mediterranean restaurant. (I wonder what they are going to call it, since I am SURE that Gumbo is definitely too Cajun for the Jordanians?)

Quiet birthdays are good too.
Happy Birthday! Personally, I don't do birthdays, but yours sounded nice and simple. I love simple.
I'll have you know that Jeff and the staff ate 5 gallons of that soup in 2 days
