New Schedule

I am such a creature of habit. I prefer things to remain the same...
change = scary inablility to plan for what might happen.

Shit. So now I am working sundays, mondays and thurdays, and class on tuesdays. Today I wrote my first paper, and lemme tell you, the APA (American Psychological Association) is retarded. Oh, how I detest conforming and citing!! (Olson 2006) I wonder who thought up all that crap about when to italicize, when to use commas, parenthesis, and the rest? Do you really need all that punctuation?? Its stupid.

Last week, I treated this ol gal who had a GI bleed. She had black blood spewing forth from both ends. I had to place an NG tube (a lovely device that is jammed into the nostril and then threaded down into the stomach) so I could levage and suction her stomach. Then she kept bleeding down the other end, so much that her skin was white, slick and cold to the touch. Her blood pressure was in the toilet, and she kept passing out. So, I bolused her with a couple of liters of fluid and slammed three units of blood in. I generally like to give blood transfusions slowly, to minimize the risk of a transfusion reaction, however, in her case I was willing to make that exception. The patient stabilized and then I sent her to the GI Lab. The GI lab is the magical place where they put more tubes down the gullet, peer around with cameras, and treat ulcers. The patient had three ulcers: two in the stomach, and one huge one in the duodenom of the small intestine. Then she came back to the ER, where I watched her with a hawks' eye. She was better, and we fixed her. Yay.

Someone in my dept nominated me for Nurses Week. I was absurdly pleased by that. I wore my "Nurses Week Nominee" button all week.

Aurora went to her very first dental appointment today. I abhor the dentist, but she doesn't know that. I was all, "WOO HOO lets go, its gonna be so much FUN!" She was perfect! She was very brave, and super well behaved. Unfortunately she has some problem areas that are gonna cost *cough* $392.00 to fix. !! Um, don't baby teeth just fall out anyway?

NO wonder I am not seeeing you anymore. I usually always work Tues, and Wed. and then either both or one of the weekend days.

Glad to know you are doing well in school. Bu you are S-M-art like that. ;)

YEAH for Auroa. (sp). She looks quite cute and brave with her sunshades on. And I do not understand that either... why pay if they are going to fall out? *CONFUSED*

And you sooo deserve the nomination! Oh... you missed the icecream today, if you had time to eat it anyway. ;) But yeah... I know who did the nominations... (Sherry Garcia)... she is quite a sweetie... ( oh and she had help from Jennifer C.)

Miss seeing you around. But I will see you Sunday then.

Oh... and nice save! I take it, there were not any rooms upstairs for the pt. after her visit to the GI lab? GGGRRR once they leave, they are not suppose to come back... don't they know the rules? LOL
