WOO HOO! I just spent 100 bucks on a new printer/ scanner/ copier/ dishwasher/ babysitter! Okay, it doesn't actually wash dishes or babysit, but who cares!
That little scribble above was done by yours truly.
Oh yeah, Happy late fourth of July!
So for mine and Ryan's 11th anniversary we did 'whatever we wanted'. Translation: Grammy Laurie and Papa Mark took children for the day, and Ryan and I, ahem, goofed off. We went to a movie, ate a late lunch, spent some quality time together, shopped a little, drank a little and had a wonderful day. I actually worked on my anniversary, though.
I had no school on Tuesday, so I decided to pick up an extra 8 hour shift. When I got off work I met my parents and hubby and kids over at the El Rio health center parking lot off Congress St. That is the hella good spot for fire-work viewing, you see. My parents brought a cooler full of sodas and water, and my sweet sister even packed me a picnic dinner. So there we are, its hot, humid, and its noisy! There are people everywhere, picnicking, BBQing, talking, walking, generally having a good time. It gets dark, and all of a sudden a huge white car comes speeding down congress street, jumps the curb smashing into one of those concrete trash cans next to the bus stop. I heard the tires screech, heard the sound of the concrete exploding, and saw a baby stroller go flying in the air. I hand my own kids to my mom and Ryan, while I am dialing 911. My dad, sister and I rush over to the accident scene. I push my way through the hoards of people and find a woman, a baby, a grandma, and a father. The grandma is clutching the baby, who much to my relief, is scraped up, but ok. The woman is colapsed on her side, and is totally freaked out. The father is yelling, "She's Pregnant! She's Pregnant!". My sister and I, with the help of another nurse and nursing student get the woman on her back and her legs straightened out. By this time, people have brought water, med kits, flash lights, anything to help, and the police arrived also. Jennifer is doing her best to comfort the woman, telling her that the baby is ok, she's going to be ok, and help is on the way. Then EMS arrives, and my paramedic friend Lilly takes over the situation. The woman might have had a fractured pelvis, or a broken hip. The baby had some scratches and abrasions to him, but his stroller was totalled.
The car by the way was a hit and run, but the puffed up looking policeman told me that they'd apprehended that asshole.
Then the fireworks started. oooh-ahhh. As soon as the grand finale ended, a huge monsoon struck us and in five minutes, everything was drenched.
And its raining... again.
