The Fall

What is fall like in the desert? Its dry, windy, and a mulitilayer type day. First you start off with a tee-shirt with a sweater, because it is like 60 degrees. Then by 1000, you have peeled your layers off, because it is now 90 degrees. A thiry-point jump on a daily basis. I like the fall, but no -likey the wind.

Last night Ryan and I were sitting outside after the kids had gone to bed. We were sipping on a coupla michelobs and quietly discussing our days. When Hilde, the little dog, starts barking her damn-fool head off. Then she started chasing something in he yard, and her dumb big brother Louis gets interested as well. The he starts growl-barking. Ryan quickly went inside to grab the flashlight. Once his spotlight hit the ground, we saw it move. It was coiled in a striking position, shaking its rattle-less tail, glossy black with yellow stripes. This king snake might have been one we have seen before, but it was nearly three feet long with absolutely no intention of moving where we wanted it to go, which was out of our yard! Finally Ryan was able to convince it to leave.

Silly dogs do not like snakes, thank you very much.

It is the same way here - chilly in the mornings, and warm in the afternoons. If it wern't for the winds, this would be perfect.

One plus to living in the middle of the city - no snakes. Zero. Zip. Nada. And that is a GOOD thing!

I love that picture of the girls. Aurora is looking so grown up - she is loosing the baby. And Astrid has such flawless skin! I can't wait to see you guys next month!
